Russia will definitely leave the annexed Crimea - just like the USSR left the Baltic States after 40 years of occupation. Kurt Volker, the U.S. Department of State Special Representative in Ukraine's Affairs said so in an interview with 1+1 TV channel.
"Yes, yes, I believe [that Russia will leave Crimea]. We saw how it happened with the Baltic States. Soviet Union brought them independence back after 40 years of occupation. The West, the U.S. and other countries remained committed to a hardline, not recognizing the forced inclusion of these countries into Soviet Union", he said.
He stressed that Washington and Brussels share principal position in terms of the occipied peninsula.
"We will not agree on the Russian annexation of Crimea", the diplomat stated.
