Russia addressed the Supreme Court of England with a claim of a new trial involving three billion “debt of Yanukovych.”Anton Siluanov, First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia claimed this, TASS reports.
According to him, today’s verdict of the Appellate Court in England postponed the decision on the resolution of the dispute for a short time.
‘The decision of the Appellate court consists in the following – three out of four arguments of the Ukrainian side haven’t been endorsed. On one of them, the Appellate Court in England adopted a decision on carrying out more profound and detailed research of the matter. It is about the provision of credit to Ukraine allegedly under the influence of the Russian side. We will address the Supreme Court of UK, and we are sure that English justice will objectively understand and make an appropriate decision,’ reads the message.
As it was reported, on September 14, the Appellate Court of England endorsed Ukraine’s complaint against Russia in case of “Yanukovych’s debt” – regarding Eurobonds in the amount of $ 3 billion.
Thus, the Supreme Court of the UK will back to the viewing of the debt dispute between Kyiv and Moscow in terms of mere judicial proceeding, not accelerated procedure.
As it was reported earlier the Ministry of Finance of Russia announced the compromise on the so-called ‘Yanukovych debt’ in 3 billion dollars. Moscow claims that another country can buy out it by the money or securities.
Ukraine got the debt in 3 billion dollars from Russia when Viktor Yanukovych was the president of Ukraine in 2013. Kyiv insisted to recognize the debt as the commercial with the further reorganization and writing down of the part of the debt. In its turn, Russia refused from the reorganization on the terms accepted by the private creditors of Ukraine and demanded to recognize the debt as the state.
