The Russian Federation believes that it will succeed to regulate with Belarus the detention of 33 mercenaries of Wagner group near Minsk. Ambassador of Russia to Belarus Dmitry Mezentsev said so.
“It is important to note that the interaction of the employees of the Investigative Committee of Russia and Prosecutor General’s Office with their Belarusian partners allows to deeply and fully dealing with the current situation,” Mezentsev noted.
The ambassador hopes that the “unfounded interpretations” stated by official Minsk concerning the arrival of these Russian citizens in Belarus will be removed.
On July 29, the law enforcers of Belarus detained over 30 militants of the Russian Wagner group.
Alexander Lukashenko accused Russia of interference in the internal affairs of the country, particularly, the election campaign.
In his turn, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held phone talk with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and raised the issue of extradition of the Wagner militants. Later, Lukashenko supposedly promised to extradite the mercenaries to Ukraine.
