Russia keeps blocking Ukrainian ports in Sea of Azov, - Minister of Infrastructure

Ukrainian port of Mariupol and Berdyansk in the Sea of Azov are blocked by Russia for the entry and exit of vessels, totally 35 vessels blocked. Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelyan claimed this on Facebook.

‘As of the evening, November 28, 2018, Ukrainian ports of Mariupol and Berdyansk in the Sea of Azov are effectively frozen by the Russian Federation for the entry and exit of vessels,’ the Minister said.

According to intelligence, 18 vessels are pending to enter the Sea of Azov: four head to Berdyansk port, 14 to Mariupol port. Three vessels can’t leave the Berdyansk port and six the port of Mariupol. Another eight vessels are moored in ports.

Totally, 35 vessels are blocked. The movement is carried out only in the direction of the Russian ports in the Azov. It means that Russia has blocked the Ukrainian ports in the Sea of Azov,’ Omelyan claimed.

‘Their objective obvious - blocking the work of Ukrainian ports in the waters of the Sea of Azov and the gradual ousting of Ukraine from our legal territories, enshrined in international law,’ the Minister noted.

Reportedly, “Kyiv District Court” of occupied Simferopol arrested all Ukrainian sailors for two months.

As we reported earlier the coast guard ships of the Russian Navy acted aggressively against the ships of the Ukrainian Navy, which have been carrying out a scheduled transition from Odesa port to Mariupol port in the Sea of Azov.   

Kyiv demanded from Moscow to immediately provide the medical service to the wounded sailors and provide them urgent return to the Ukrainian territory. According to the Naval Forces of Ukraine, six sailors are wounded and two of them were in the critical condition.

Russian Ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova named the exact number of the detained Ukrainian servicemen – 24. Moskalkova added that “procedural actions connected with the establishment of the facts of the events. If a military vessel enters the waters, certainly, this is a violation of the borders, this is a socially dangerous act, which demands a special qualification and procedure.”

Later it was reported that the Ukrainian servicemen taken captive in Kerch Strait are being forced to give false testimony. The Commander of Ukraine’s Navy noted that the lawyers have already met with this military.
