Russia sent a request to the dispute settlement body of the World Trade Organization (WTO) for consultations in connection with the sanctions imposed by Ukraine. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Economic Development Maxim Oreshkin, TASS reported.

"The Russian representation in the WTO in Geneva sent to the WTO dispute settlement body and the government of Ukraine a request for consultations in connection with the permanently imposed restrictions starting from 2014, prohibitions, special requirements and procedures for Russian goods, services and persons in Ukrainian market, as well as with regard to transit through Ukraine, "Oreshkin said.

Oreshkin said that there is reason to believe that sanctions are being taken against Russia by Ukraine "in violation of its obligations to the WTO."
