Head of the International Committee of Russia’s Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev сalled the new sanctions against Russia, imposed by the US Senate, inadequate. This is reported by RIA News.
"The current position of the Senate is not adequate neither in the situation in the world, nor in the situation in bilateral relations with Russia. It is a vicious circle when the previous step, which did not give the desired result, dictates the need for the next, tougher, but no more effective," he noted.
Kosachev believes they cannot count on the House of Representatives anymore, “but it is worth to watch the actions of Trump – will he retain in this situation the ability to act independently, not obeying the instincts of self-preservation in power.”
The parliamentarian stressed that the decision of Senate is a regrettable fact, since it confirms that most US senators lack the ability to stop, analyze their actions and return to making decisions that are adequate to the situation.
Earlier it was reported that US Senate approved expansion of sanctions against Russia. Sanctions will affect the key sectors of Russian economy — mining, metals, shipping and railways.
