The Russian authorities believe that the condition of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny could have deteriorated due to pancreatitis. The country’s Interior Ministry is ready to check the versions of German doctors about Navalny's poisoning.

This was stated by the head of the investigative department of the Siberian Transport Police Sergei Potapov, Interfax reports.

Russian law enforcement officials say that Navalny may have been obsessed with diets that could have worsened his health.

"Investigators seized and sent for examination about 500 objects during the inspections: Navalny's clothes, garbage from Tomsk airport, airport cafe, restaurant, and hotel rooms," the statement said.

Russia has sent a relevant request to Germany to provide data for further verification.

As we reported earlier, on September 2, the German doctors stated that Alexei Navalny was poisoned with a substance of neuro-paralytic agent from the Novichok group.

"There is unambiguous evidence of the presence of a chemical poisonous substance of neuro-paralytic agent from the Novichok group," the statement said.
