Russia has stated that there is no issue about any mediating role of Turkey in the settlement of the conflict in eastern Ukraine as TASS reported citing Spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.
"There can be no talk of any mediating role of Turkey between Russia and Ukraine in the settlement of the internal Ukrainian conflict," she said.
At the same time, the diplomat noted that "Russia is not a side of this conflict," stressing that Kyiv and Donetsk, and Luhansk are allegedly its participants.
Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced his readiness to act as a mediator in negotiations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation on reducing tensions in relations.
Meanwhile, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that Kyiv, through the President of Turkey Tayyip Erdogan, handed over to Russia the list of illegally detained citizens, but there is no answer yet.
