Iraqi Air Company "Iraqi Airways" has carried out the first flight to Moscow in 13 years. As reported by RIA Novosti, on September 17 the plane landed at the airport Vnukovo.
The aviation authorities of Iraq and Russia agreed to open a regular direct communication between the cities of the two countries in 2015. The participants agreed to consider the possibility of opening flights also to the city of Erbil in Iraq and to St. Petersburg and Kazan to Russia.
It should be noted that the air communication with Iraq was interrupted in 2004 after the ban from Russian side was imposed. The reason for the termination of flights between the countries was the low level of ensuring the safety of flights due to the deteriorating situation in Iraq.
We recall that the United States of America imposed sanctions against two Ukrainian airlines for cooperation with the companies of Iran and Iraq.
