The Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people has grounds to believe that Russia intends to banish Crimean Tatars from the occupied peninsula, removing them with Boers, the South Africans of European descent. Eskender Bariyev, the member of the Mejlis said this as quoted by UNN news agency.

According to him, the number of attacks on Crimean Tatars - by both law enforcers and various social elements - has vastly increased.

'I guess this is supposed to ease the banishing of the indigenous people from its own territory, from its Motherland... We conducted analysis, and there's information that Russia has been actively working to remove the population in Crimea. Specifically, in June, we spotted members of the Boer people, the Africans of European descent', Bariyev said.

The official added that the Boer community is also interested in settling in the peninsula, due to the current problems that faced in the South African Republic.

Earlier, Ukrainian MP and the presidential envoy for the affairs of Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Dzhemilev said that about 95 percent of all searches in the Russian-annexed Crimea is conducted among the Crimean Tatar.
