Romania recalls its ambassador to Belarus for consultations as a sign of solidarity with Lithuania and Poland. Romanian Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu announced this on Twitter.

“I decided to recall our ambassador to Belarus for consultations in the spirit of solidarity with Lithuania and Poland. Belarus must understand that pressure at the diplomatic level on the EU member states does not help the dialogue and does not bring positive results,” he wrote on Twitter.

On October 9, Poland and Lithuania recalled part of their diplomatic corps employees from Belarus.

This decision was made by Warsaw and Vilnius after Minsk asked them to reduce the number of staff in embassies in Belarus amid tensions over the crackdown on protests in that country.

The UK also condemned the decision of Belarus to expel Polish and Lithuanian diplomats, and as a sign of solidarity with these countries, it has temporarily recalled its ambassador to Belarus Jacqueline Perkins.
