A man noted that Yakiv Veremeychyk worked as a plumber at a foreign company of investment before the military service. In summer 2016, he began to serve on contract and since September 2016 he was in the Donbas Conflict zone as commander of BMP-2 (amphibious infantry fighting vehicle). The last rotation took place in April 2018 and in a month, a man was captured. According to Bogdan Mukha, Yakiv was accused of the genocide against people of Luhansk region and use of banned methods of warfare.
He noted that he tried to save a brother out of captivity with the help of the Red Cross, Ukrainian authority but nothing worked. Last time Veremeychyk saw his brother in January 2017 and he talked by phone with the relatives in a few days before the captivity.
Bogdan Mukha stated that Yakiv Veremeychyk should come in Kyiv tomorrow, on June 28, about 2-3 p.m.
“This news was not unexpected for me as on the eve some MPs met me and we talked about it. I am very surprised that the situation is solved so quickly. I am thankful to them.
Earlier Viktor Medvedchuk arranged the release of four Ukrainian prisoners who were held in the self-proclaimed “DNR” and “LNR”. Three of the released are Ukrainian servicemen.
