The process of resolving Donbas issue requires the participation of the United States of America. It will be difficult to restore peace in Donbas without Washington's participation. First president of the country Leonid Kravchuk, who has recently headed the Ukrainian delegation in the Trilateral Contact Group, announced this on the air of Ukraine 24.
According to Kravchuk, if there is a stalemate in the Ukraine-Russia-OSCE format in the future, the United States will have to be involved in it.
“I think the strongest, richest country in the world can have the greatest impact,” he explained.
Kravchuk added that he speaks of the United States joining the negotiations in the future because now it has other problems - preparations for the presidential elections, the coronavirus pandemic.
"But we will see if suddenly steps will begin, and peace will gradually be established," added the first president.
On July 30, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky appointed Kravchuk as the head of the Ukrainian delegation to the TCG. Kravchuk replaced another former president, Leonid Kuchma, who left the TCG of his own free will.
