Twenty-seven residents of Sevastopol, Crimea, wearing colors of Ukraine’s national flag gathered on the shoreline of the Black Sea. They took a photo, not far from Khrustalny beach, and then uploaded it on the Web; according to the rally participants, it was an improvised patriotic flash mob.
‘We just called our friends and their friends, and offered to take photos in the downtown Sevastopol in order to show there are true patriots of Ukraine in Crimea, to prove that the mainland Ukraine should not give up on Crimea,’ one of the organizers said.
According to a participant in the rally, the passers-by were looked at them with a great surprise. ‘My baby girl was excited to join in, and my friend’s son was happy to see so many Ukrainians. Most commonly, we only speak to each other in a tight circle, and now, the children saw there are a lot of us. I think that’s the most essential about this flash mob. The little residents of Sevastopol consider themselves Ukrainians – even now, during the occupation,’ the participant said, asking not to call her by the name.
