Fires in the Luhansk region have finally been localized, settlements in that area are now protected. The fire in the region affected 19 thousand hectares of forest plantations. This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal, the press service of Ukraine’s Interior Ministry reports.

"Fires in the Luhansk region affected about 19 thousand hectares of forest plantations, several settlements, from 250 to 400 houses. Fires are localized, settlements are protected," the official said.

In addition, Shmygal named the sums of compensation that the government was ready to pay to the victims: 300,000 hryvnias (10,600 dollars) for a completely destroyed house; 200,000 hryvnias (7,058 dollars) - to families who have lost relatives; 5,000 hryvnias (177 dollars) for a partially destroyed house; 20,000 hryvnias (705 dollars) if the household has been damaged.

As we reported earlier, the approximate area of fires in Luhansk region makes 13,000 hectares; over 2,500 people and 264 units of equipment involved in the liquidation of fire.
