Yakiv Veremeychyk, Eduard Mikheyev, Maksym Goryainov and Dmytro Velyky.All four of them handed me documents about their release and their passports, Ukrainian passports, according to which they, of course, will fly out of Minsk today and arrive in Kyiv,” the Chairman of the Political Council of the Opposition Platform - For Life Viktor Medvedchuk said. He negotiated the release of prisoners with the self-proclaimed republics’ leaders Denis Pushilin and Leonid Pasechnik.
Medvedchuk also said that the plane, which will take the released prisoners to Kyiv, is already waiting at the airport.
As it was reported earlier, Viktor Medvedchuk arranged the release of four Ukrainians from captivity in self-proclaimed "DNR" and "LNR."
Later, the names of four released Ukrainians were revealed.
Ukrainian serviceman Dmytro Velyky was taken prisoner on September 11, 2016. He was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment allegedly for terrorism. Yakiv Veremeychyk was captivated on May 25, 2018. Militants opened several criminal cases on him. The third serviceman is Maksym Goryainov, major of the 53rd Detached Mechanized Brigade. He was taken prisoner on May 25, 2019. Court session on his case was held, as a result he was sentenced to 15 years behind bars. Eduard Mikheyev was captivated on October 16, 2017. He was convicted for alleged state treason and sentenced to 12 years of imprisonment.
