Referendum on constitutional reform that would greatly expand the powers of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan started in Turkey, polling stations opened in 32 eastern country provinces, according to TASS.
"Residents of eastern areas in Turkey started voting on the referendum regarding constitutional reform. Polling stations in 33 out of 81 provinces opened at 7 a.m. local time," the message reads.
More than 55 million people in this country of about 80 million are registered to vote. There are 145 thousand stations opened for voting. Turkish citizens living abroad have already voted beforehand.
It is noted that Turkish Foreign Ministry increased security measures.
