Head of the Verkhovna Rada Dmytro Razumkov, said that it was impossible to cancel the article on the election in occupied Donbas in the resolution on local elections in Ukraine. This is reported by Ukraine24.
“The resolution has nothing to do with the Minsk agreements. It can be interpreted in different ways, but the elections in accordance with the Minsk agreements are item 9. I'm not sure that today we can say that the previous 8 have been fully implemented. That is why it is not entirely correct to say now that the resolution for some reason is not entirely correct," he said.
Razumkov recalled that the resolution was adopted by the parliament in accordance with the Law of Ukraine, which says that the Verkhovna Rada announces local elections no later than 90 days before the election date.
"Today, to make any changes to this resolution is to question the legitimacy of holding elections throughout the state, because it will contradict the current legislation," the Rada speaker explained.
On September 16, a 7-hour online meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) took place, and the head of the Ukrainian delegation to the TCG, Leonid Kravchuk, said that “the adoption of laws and regulations is the exclusive competence and prerogative of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine,” and TCG can discuss proposals for draft documents on self-government in occupied Donbas.
