Oleg Sentsov's supporters gathered in Kyiv near the EU embassy building; they held a rally, expressing solidarity with Sentsov and other political prisoners in Russia. 112 Ukraine TV channel's correspondent reported this on air.
The rally took place at 11 a.m.
'About 30 people joined the event - mostly the artists and a lot of internal migrants from Crimea. Some people claim to personally know Sentsov', the reporter said.
The rally participants also made a small installation on the asphalt near the Embassy; they used chalks to draw the map of Russia, with places where Ukrainian political prisoners are held. They also signed the respective petition and sent it to the EU Office in Ukraine.
Earlier, the European Parliament voted for the resolution on the release of Oleg Sentsov and other Ukrainian political prisoners
455 MPs supported the resolution, 106 voted against it.
The document of the parliament ‘expresses the solidarity with the Ukrainian filmmaker, political activist and political prisoner Oleg Sentsov’ who went on the hunger strike on May 14, 2018, demanding the release of the illegally detained compatriots and concern about the consequences of the hunger strike for the inmate’s health.
