“Yes, it is possible. I think there will be a chance to hold it this year. I can’t say the specific dates, because they are still being discussed, but obviously it will happen this year,” Ushakov said.
Answering a clarifying question, whether a meeting is scheduled for the end of November, Ushakov said: "If you ask me, it will be held before the end of the year, yes."
Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov also said that the meeting could take place before the end of 2019.
“Rather, we are optimistic that it will happen before (the end of the year, - ed.) because there are no specific dates,” said Peskov.
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron said that the leaders of France, Germany, Russia, and Ukraine would meet in Paris on December 9 in an attempt to intensify efforts to find a peaceful resolution to Donbas conflict.
On November 12, Darka Olifer, the Spokesperson of Ukraine’s Representative Leonid Kuchma, reported that all obstacles for the holding of Normandy Four leaders meeting were lifted at the Trilateral Contact Group in Minsk.
Earlier, Russia considered the possibility of participation in the Normandy Format summit after signing of Steinmeier formula by the Ukrainian side. The disengagement of forces in three areas should precede the implementation of Steinmeier formula.
The disengagement of forces took place in Stanytsia Luhanska and Zolote, Luhansk regions.
On November 9, the disengagement of forces started in Petrivske, Donetsk region.
On November 10, the media reported that the Normandy Four meeting at the highest level might take place on November 24 or 26.
