Putin's aide Surkov to join Normandy talks session in Paris

Vladislav Surkov, the assistant of Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Russian envoy for Donbas-related affairs will participate in the Normandy talks session in Paris. It is supposed to take place in the French capital on July 12. Interfax-Ukraine news agency reported that.

Previously, Putin said Moscow would be ready to discuss the extensions of the Normandy format after the elections in the Ukrainian parliament take place.

July 11, President Volodymyr Zelensky talked to Russian leader Vladimir Putin on the phone - for the first time. The conversation happened upon the initiative of the Ukrainian side. This was reported by Press Secretary of Putin Dmitry Peskov.

“The issues of adjustment in the south-east [of Ukraine] and cooperation to return the detained people from both sides were discussed,” he said.
Putin and Zelensky came to an agreement to continue the work on the expert level. Besides, state leaders talked about continued cooperation in the Normandy format. It stands to mention that the Office of Ukraine’s President did not give any official comments.
