Putin to visit Crimea for celebration of fifth anniversary of annexation

President of Russia Vladimir Putin will visit occupied Crimea and Sevastopol on March 18 as the press service of Kremlin reported.

The meeting of Putin with the representatives of the “Crimean community” in Simferopol is planned as well as the participation in the festivities dedicated to the celebration of the fifth anniversary of the so-called “Crimean referendum” in 2014 and occupation of Crimea by Russia.

Besides, the Russian president will participate in the ceremony of putting Balaklava and Taurida power plants into operation. Putin will observe the opening of Balaklava power plant personally, and the opening of Taurida power plant via the video link. Both new power plants should decrease the energy dependence of Crimea.

As we reported the Siemens gas turbines installed at Balaklava and Taurida power plants. The German company assured that the turbines were supplied to the peninsula without its permission and in violation of the EU sanctions.

It was reported on the eve of the fifth anniversary of the annexation of Crimea that European Parliament has not recognized and continues to condemn the Crimean occupation by the Russian Federation.
