Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, stated that during the phone talk with his Ukrainian colleague Petro Poroshenko he discussed the fate of Kyrylo Vyshynsky, a Russian journalist detained in Kyiv. He said it at the press-conference in Qingdao after the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit, as Interfax reports.
“We have discussed the questions concerning the extradition of people kept by both of the states. Under my initiative we have also discussed the destiny of the Russian journalist (Vyshynsky, - ed.),” Putin said.
“It is too early to make a conclusion on how this issue will be solved. I would refrain, primarily, not to disturb anything,” he added.
The phone conversation between the presidents of Russia and Ukraine took place on June 9. The press office of the Ukrainian Government informed that Putin and Poroshenko discussed the issue of the release of the Ukrainian political prisoners.
The Chief Editor of RIA News was detained in Kyiv in the middle of May. Later, he was arrested and accused of state treason.
Recently, there are statements about his exchange for the convicted Ukrainians kept in Russia.
