According to the information of the North Korean agency, the agreement for the meeting stated in the telegram sent by Putin to Kim Jong-un to greet him with the anniversary of the liberation of Korea on August 15.
"For the occasion of the national holiday in the DPRK, the Liberation Day, I send you the sincere greetings. Russia highly estimates that your country reverently remembers the soldiers of the Soviet army who fought shoulder to shoulder with the Korean patriots for the freedom and independence of Korea," KCNA cited the telegram.
Also, it is noted that Putin "is ready to meet in the near future" for "the discussion of the current issues of the bilateral relationship and important regional issues."
He also noted "the friendly and constructive nature" of the relations between the Russian Federation and the DPRK and expressed the confidence that the countries can "constantly develop the mutual cooperation", including the trilateral program between Russia, North and South Koreas.
Earlier, the first-ever meeting of the current U.S. President and North Korean leader took place on June 12 in Singapore. The main topics of the summit are the denuclearization of DPRK and reduction of tensions between the states.
Before the summit, Kim Jong-un and Donald Trump exchanged the historical handshake against the U.S. and North Korean flags. The leaders talked face-to-face in the presence of the translators and later the advisers and high-level officials joined them.
