Head of the Catalonian government Carles Puigdemont sent a letter to Prime Minister of Spain Mariano Rajoy in time given by Spain to clarify the statement on the independence of Catalonia, as reported by El Mundo.

According to Spanish media, in his letter, Puigdemont didn’t clarify whether Catalonia actually announced its independence after signing the declaration.

Apart from that, the leader of Catalonia suggested the Spanish government to discuss the issue of the referendum in the next two months, in this way opening the path to negotiations on the independence of Catalonia.

As we reported earlier, on October 10, Catalonia’s leaders signed an independence declaration but said they were suspending it in the hope Madrid would negotiate.

In response, Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy gave Catalonia’s leader five days to clarify his position on whether or not he was declaring independence.
