Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Vadym Prystaiko believes that Ukraine has cornered Russia with its actions regarding disengagement of forces in Donbas. He expressed this opinion on the air of one of Ukrainian TV channels, RBC reports.
"Speaking on disengagement and readiness of the Russian side for it. I think when we started this process in the summer, they did not believe at all that they were capable of moving this way. Now the ball is on the Russian side. Russia is cornered," he said.
Prystaiko suggested that German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin was about the date and place of the Normandy Summit.
The Foreign Minister added that at the moment the summit dates are being discussed at the level of the diplomatic channels of the "Normandy Quartet" member states (Germany, the Russian Federation, France, Ukraine), although they are not officially announced.
As we reported earlier, the Normandy Four highest level meeting may take place on November 24 or 26. This was reported by DT.UA with reference to a source, close to the President's Office.
If the meeting does not take place on these dates, then, according to the source, the leaders will not be able to gather by the end of the year, and then one can hardly hope that the Quartet meeting will ever take place.
