If Ukraine receives a lethal weapon from its allies, it will be able to provide a counterbalance to strengthen aggression from the Russian side. This opinion shared the shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs of Canada, Peter Kent, reports Ukrinform.
"Providing Ukraine with a weapon, we will offer a counterbalance to the escalation of aggression resorted to by the Russian side", said Kent.
He also called for the continuation of the UNIFIER Canadian military training mission in Ukraine. "As part of the UNIFIER operation, Ukrainian forces learn to better withstand the Russian-backed rebels and the Russian military who lead the rebels in the east of Ukraine", said the deputy from the Conservative Party.
Let us remind, about 200 Canadian military trainers from the year before were conducting classes with Ukrainian servicemen at Yavoriv and Kamenetz-Podilsky landfills. However, their mandate ends on 31 March 2017, therefore, during the visit of Justin Trudeau in Kyiv President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko appealed with a request to extend the term of trainers' work in Ukraine.
