Massive anti-government protests in Israel grew into clashes with police. Law enforcers apprehended 12 activists, as they demanded resignation of Premier Benjamin Netanyahu, DW reports.

"Netanyahu described the protest actions against him as "incubators of coronavirus". The police dispersed protesters, claiming it applied reasonable amount of force", reads the message.

Another protest action took place in Jerusalem, next to Netanyahu's residence on Saturday, August 1. Some 10,000 people participated. The Premier's opponents have been gathering next to his house every Saturday, demanding that he steps down.

Earlier, a militant formation located in the Gaza Strip fired a missile towards Israel. The anti-aircraft defense system Iron Shield intercepted the projectile, Israeli military reports.
