The Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine cooperates with the competent US authorities during the investigation of criminal proceedings against former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych. This was reported by UNN referring to the source in Prosecutor's Office.
"Working on the criminal trials against the former president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, the General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine cooperates with competent US authorities in the way provided by the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine (international cooperation)," the publication notes.
At the same time, the Prosecutor General's Office informed that issues of international legal cooperation between Ukraine and the United States are regulated by the treaty on mutual legal assistance in criminal cases of 1998, and the central bodies for cooperation during the pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings are the Prosecutor's Office and the US Attorney General.
"Given this, all inquiries of Ukrainian investigative authorities on legal assistance in criminal proceedings, addressed to the competent US authorities, are sent by the General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine to the US Department of Justice," the department specified.
