Since the beginning of the election campaign for local elections, 475 criminal proceedings regarding violations of the election law have been initiated in Ukraine. This was announced by Prosecutor General Iryna Venedyktova, the press service of the Office of the Prosecutor General reports.
"As of October 21, 475 criminal proceedings regarding the preparation and conducting of local elections were initiated, 234 of them - for direct violations of election law,” she said.
The Prosecutor General added that 101 criminal proceedings had been opened for bribing voters, and 82 criminal proceedings - for obstructing the exercise of the right to vote.
As we reported earlier, the District Administrative Court of Kyiv is asked to declare the recent announcement of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on conducting a nationwide public opinion poll illegal.
"Among other requirements of this lawsuit is to oblige Volodymyr Zelensky to refrain from taking action regarding appointing and conduct a public opinion poll at polling stations on October 25, 2020," the statement said.
