Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine failed to establish direct communication with law enforcement bodies of Iran as 112 Ukraine reported citing Prosecutor General Ruslan Ryaboshapka.
“I personally appealed to the prosecutor general of Iran with the request on the provision of the international legal aid three times, particularly, we asked to provide, besides that evidence, some evidence required by the investigation and on the basis of which people were detained in Iran. Recently, the information was issued that three-four people detained in Iran for the commitment of this offense; they stay in preliminary detention facility. Unfortunately, there is no direct communication with law enforcement bodies of Iran,” Ryaboshapka said.
According to him, the only variant when Ukraine may reach the progress is the diplomatic ways.
The prosecutor general noted that Ukraine appealed to the countries, which citizens also deceased in the crash, with the offer to create the investigation team.
“We prepared the draft agreements on the creation of the joint investigation team; this issue is under consideration. Moreover, we work with colleagues to exchange information, which is possessed by the law enforcement bodies of these states. ‘Black boxes' or recorders, we also work in this direction but we do not possess the response from law enforcement bodies or bodies of judicial power of Iran but we work with our foreign diplomatic department to take these boxes to Ukraine and decrypt them here,' the prosecutor general added.
Earlier, Ambassador of France to Ukraine Etienne de Poncins stated that Ukraine can count on France's assistance if there is a demand for the transportation of PS752 black boxes to France.
According to the French ambassador, he has officially informed Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs about the readiness of Paris to help.
