Minsk agreements should be implemented. Russia, being their party, does not provide a sustainable cease-fire. This was stated during a discussion at the Brussels forum, by the US Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker, writes Ukrinform.

"Minsk agreements exist, and they include all the issues that are necessary to ensure a ceasefire, the restoration of Ukrainian national control, sovereignty and territorial integrity, but the problem is only that these agreements must be implemented," he said.

Volker stressed that Russia, being a signatory to these agreements, does not provide a sustainable ceasefire, and continues to deploy its military command and control organs and does not withdraw heavy weapons from Donbas.

"Ukraine loses several of its soldiers every week. Imagine that you have a real war on your territory, not somewhere far away, but directly in your territory, and your armed forces are defending your country, losing soldiers who are defending their own country. Such situation is now in Ukraine. Imagine the impact of this on politics in the country, "he added.

Earlier, the US Special Representative Kurt Volker stated that the Russian-created DNR and LNR formations in Donbas should be liquidated because they do not meet the Constitution of Ukraine.

He expressed hope that the UN peacekeeping mission in Donbas will become a means for the implementation of the Minsk agreements.
