In the next 5 years, Ukraine needs to do three things: to ensure peace, improve the living standards of the Ukrainians, and achieve the criteria for its accession to the EU and NATO. President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said this at a press conference on December 16, as 112 Ukraine broadcasted.

"In the next 5 years, three important things are to be done. We should achieve peace based on the national interests of Ukraine. Secondly, we should overcome the consequences of the economic crisis caused by the war and ensure an increase in the standard of living. Third, achieve the criteria for joining the EU and NATO," noted Poroshenko.

Earlier President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that Ukraine cuts the fetters that tie it to the Russian Empire, and will never be the canonical territory of the Russian Orthodox Church after the Unification Assembly of Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church.

"The Mother Church of Constantinople realizes its mission according to the canons - to approve the autocephalous local Orthodox Church of Ukraine as an equal among equals to the family of local Orthodox churches. Ukraine never was and never will be the canonical territory of the Russian Church!" he stressed.

At the same time, the head of state added that the issue of granting the autocephaly to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is a matter of Ukrainian national security.
