The Foreign Ministry of Ukraine plans to expel the Russian diplomat from the Ukrainian territory on the principle of mutuality as Interfax-Ukraine reported citing ministry’s spokesperson Oleh Nikolenko.

“Such a decision only confirms the course preferred by the Russian Federation on further escalation with Ukraine. The response of our state will not slow down this provocation. Soon, the Foreign Ministry will announce on the mutuality principle the expulsion of the Russian diplomat from the territory of Ukraine,” Nikolenko said.

According to him, the expulsion of an employee of Ukraine’s Embassy in Russia is “another provocation of the Russian side against employees of the Ukrainian diplomatic establishments in Russia”.

“The declaration of the diplomat of Ukraine’s Embassy in Moscow persona non grata is devoid of logic; it has no grounds,” he noted.

As we reported, Russia declared an employee of the Ukrainian embassy in Moscow persona non-grata. The diplomat must leave Russia by the end of the day on April 30.

By the way, the name of the diplomat was not revealed by the ministry. However, the Foreign Ministry added that it had warned the Ukrainian side that in the event of "hostile actions against employees of Russian diplomatic and consular missions," additional measures would be taken against the staff of Ukrainian embassies and consulates in Russia.
