Prime Minister of Spain announces end of separatist process in Catalonia

Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy announced the end of the separatist process in Catalonia and the successful application of Article 155 of the Constitution, which allows to introduce the direct administration of the Spanish authorities in the region. This is reported by El Mundo.

"The process has come to an end," the Spanish prime minister said, adding that Article 155 "operates normally."

Mariano Rajoy added that "the legality has been restored, and the trust has begun to recover."

"Catalonia can return to the path of economic recovery, and normal, legitimate elections will take place with the guarantee of neutrality of institutions," Rahoy summed up.

We recall, on October 1 Catalonia held a referendum on independence. According to the results, 90.18% voted for independence with 43% turnout. The Spanish government did not recognize the de facto declaration of independence by Catalonia.
