Ukrainian authorities raise pressure on independent TV channels, namely 112 Ukraine and NewsOne ahead of presidential elections. Member of the European Parliament and a member of the international editorial council of 112 Ukraine Nathan Gill stated that in his speech in European Council.

According to him the world needs freedom of press, and the actions of this kind challenge the democracy seriously.

“If you don’t have a free [ress you cannot have a free and fair election. I put forward a resolution of freedom of press in Urkaine which was signed by 43 MEPs from all groups in this parliament – the EPP bureaucracy blocked this. I hope they do not do this when it is re-presented next Strasbourg. We need to send and unequivocal message to Ukraine and the world on the need for freedom of the press,” Nathan Gill said.
