The Office of the President of Ukraine stated that the information about the meeting of Volodymyr Zelensky with Secretary of Russia’s Security Council Nikolai Patrushev is not true. Besides, it will file the lawsuit against the journalists as the office reported on Telegram.
“The Office of the President of Ukraine states that the information set out in the story of Schemes program about the meeting of the president of Ukraine with top official of the Russian Federation, which supposedly took place in Oman, totally and generally does not correspond with reality. The president of Ukraine has never met (personally or within the international events), talked and communicated in other way with Nikolai Patrushev”, the message said.
Information set out in Schemes investigation was called to be based not on the facts or evidence but on allegations and information from ‘some secret sources’ and it means that it is ‘blatant manipulation by public opinion’.
“When such manipulation is held on the social networks by anonymous accounts within information operations of the aggressor against Ukraine, it can be explained by the logic of the hybrid war. But when the Ukrainian journalists do the same, it goes beyond the ideas of free journalism”, the press service added.
The President’s Office stated that it expects the rebuttal of false information made on the basis of allegations from the Schemes program. It also appealed to the court with the request about the rebuttal and apologies.
Previously, reporters of Schemes project released research, in which they claimed that Patrushev and Zelensky met in Oman. Chief of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak condemned the story, calling it a lie.
Later, Spokesperson of Volodymyr Zelensky, Yulia Mendel stated that Petrushov and Zelensky have never met.
Moreover, Putin’s Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that the rumors about the meeting of the Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nicolai Patrushev and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in Oman are not true.
