Front runner of the election is current president Borut Pahor

A presidential election has started in Slovenia today. Over 3.000 polling stations have opened around the country and are to work until 7 pm local time, Slovenske Novice  inform.

Current president Borut Pahor is the front runner of this year’s election. According to a poll by Ninamedia, 56% support him. Mayor of the Alpine town of Kamnik, Marjan Sarec was predicted to receive around 19% of the votes.

There are nine candidates in the first tour. The vote count will begin after the stations close. Around 1.7 million of people are expected to cast votes.
