South Korea is to elect new president May 9 at the latest.
This was reported by the Head of Central Election Commission, according to Reuters.
According to the Constitution, the election of new president should be held within 60 days since resignation of the previous leader.
CEC Chief assured that the election will be open and fair.
As it was reported earlier, all eight judges of the Constitutional Court unanimously voted for the impeachment of Park Geun-hye.
The political scandal in South Korea broke out in late October 206, when reporters of JTBC channel found a tablet in a trash can in Seoul. The device had secret documents stored on it, dating back to 2012-2014. Among them, there were a lot of drafts of Park Geun-hye’s speeches. The speeches were proofed by Choi Soon-sil, the daughter of a South Korean Shamanistic-Evangelical cult leader. the person whom reporters and political opposition in South Korea put in charge of masterminding governmental policy and decision making during Park's administration.
