The pre-election debates at the NSC Olimpiysky stadium in Kyiv will cost from 240 to 300,000 U.S. dollars. The sum will be split in half between the electoral funds of the two candidates. Dmytro Razumkov, the speaker of the HQ of candidate Volodymyr Zelensky said this during The Pulse talk show at 112 Ukraine.
'That is, [each would spend] 3-4 million hryvnas for holding this event. This is big money, of course, but I guess the budget costs should be spent for other things,' Razumkov said.
He added that the candidates are the ones who are most interested in the debates to take place, so it would be wrong to put this financial load on the state budget.
Presidential candidate Volodymyr Zelensky reported that free tickets for the fan zone at NSC Olimpiysky stadium are now available. Thus, some viewers will be able to watch the debates between Zelensky and the incumbent president Petro Poroshenko on the stadium for free. The comedian who runs for the presidency posted the respective video message on Facebook.
The debates are to take place on Friday, April 19.
