President of Poland Andrzej Duda arrived in Lutsk to take part in the events timed to the 75th anniversary of the Volyn tragedy and honor the memory of the victims. This is reported by Volyn News.

It is noted that Duda visited the Cathedral of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul in Lutsk, where the holy mass took place.

During a joint prayer, Metropolitan of Lviv of the Roman Catholic Church, Archbishop Mieczyslaw Mokšický called to remember history and recognize sins as a path to reconciliation, to show humility and not to carry hatred from generation to generation.

Also, the congregation prayed for ending the war in Ukraine, for peace in the state and for the dead.

After the end of the mass, the President of Poland presented the Lutsk Diocese with a cross in memory of the killed Poles.

We recall that today, July 8, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, along with the Ukrainian community of Poland, prayed for the Ukrainians who died in March 1944 during the conflict.

The President of Ukraine visited Poland at the invitation of the Ukrainian community. The program of the visit includes a visit to the village of Sagrin in the Lublin Voivodship, where the head of state will open the Memorial to the memory of Ukrainians who died at the hands of the Polish "peasant battalions" and units of the Krajowa Army in 1944.

In addition, the president plans to visit the Volyn region, where he will take part in events in memory of Ukrainians - victims of the Polish-Ukrainian conflict of 1943-1944.
