The newly elected president of Montenegro, the socialist Milo Djukanovic, took the oath in parliament and officially took office, Vijesti reported.
After the inauguration ceremony Djukanovic said that Montenegro is an economically developed country in the Western Balkans, a leader of reforms and a candidate for EU membership.
We recall, in Montenegro victory in presidential elections got the candidate from the Democratic Party of Socialists Milo Djukanovic. Djukanovic, who supports the entry of Montenegro into the European Union, received 53.9% of the vote. His main competitor, who stands for close ties with Russia, businessman Mladen Boyanich scored 33.4% of the vote.
As reported, the parliamentary elections in Montenegro in 2016 were marred by an attempted coup. On the day of the parliamentary elections on October 16, a group of 20 people using firearms had to seize the parliament building and announce the victory of certain political forces.
