Possible suspension of UNESCO funding due to anti-Israel UN Security Council resolution is being discussed, - source

These measures will entail changes in the US law

UN Security Council vote on the legality of Jewish settlements in Palestine could lead to the decision by United States to refuse to participate in the organizations belonging to the UN. According to the Washington Post, one of the variants of such action is to refuse to participate in the UNESCO financing.

As the newspaper notes, some of the US Congress Senators call for such measures. "Almost every Republican will feel that this is a betrayal of Israel, and the only answer that we have is the power of the wallet," Washington Post cited the words of the Chairman of the Senate Subcommittee on the State Department appropriations and foreign operations, Lindsey Graham.

At the same time, the publication noted that the US is one of the major UN donor countries and their contributions make up 22% of the annual United Nations budget. However, Washington's involvement in the financing of the United Nations is required and regulated by the previously ratified international treaties. In this regard the rejection of them may require a revision of the legislation.

Earlier, the UN Security Council adopted a resolution demanding an end to Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territory.

USA you know UN has rule : NO pay, no SAY !!!??? UN isn't United Nations of the United States , but of THE WORLD. Of 7.4 billion people in the world (at moment) EU pays with just 500 million people (7%) the majority of all UN costs = 40%. The rich oil countries pay a laughable percentage of their countries income/GDP. Japan127 million people pays twice as much as China with 1.5 billion people, one of the 5 permanent members. Russia with 143.5 million people pays as much as Netherlands with 17 million people. UN needs a revamp, no vetorights at all, every country needs to pay the same percentage of GDP (except when natural disasters occur), all countries need to be connected to all UN institutions, including to International Criminal Court. Any country who rejects that, should get automatic sanctions from all other countries, then peace will reign in the world, not now with the 5 permanent members of UNSC acting as warmongers bringing the world not to PEACE, but to PIECES.
