Ukraine hopes for further effective cooperation with Moldova and preservation of neighborly relations with this country – now that the Molvodan people have chosen their new president. Deputy Head of Ukraine’s Presidential Administration Kostyantyn Yeliseev said this today in Kyiv as quoted by his press service.
‘The President took into account the results of the presidential elections in Moldova on November 13. We honor the choice of the Moldovan people,’ the official said.
The Deputy Head of Presidential Administration added that Ukraine hopes to continue cooperation with Moldova on their common course of the European integration. However, he said, the positive course of relations between Ukraine and Moldova will directly depend on the new Moldovan leadership’s positions towards Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity; that includes non-recognition of Crimea’s annexation and respect for the basic principles of the international right.
‘We respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova within its international recognized border, including the Transnistrian region of Moldova,’ Yeliseev said.
As 112 International reported, the leader of Moldova’s socialist party Ihor Dodon won the presidential election and immediately promised to pay his first presidential visit to Moscow.
