"Our Ukraine now is at war with Russian aggression, and the amount allocated to this contract is very significant, we ask that part of this contract, some helicopters, go to the Armed Forces of Ukraine," he said.
The president added that he had instructed Prime Minister and Interior Minister to work out the relevant issue and, if necessary, to update the helicopter for such purposes. "We have a full and united position of the Ukrainian side, I would be very grateful if we could make this clarification during the implementation of the contract," he said and recalled that Ukraine and France already have a positive experience of cooperation with French companies.
"We are very grateful for both electronic warfare systems and other systems that are helping us today in this difficult situation," Poroshenko said.
At the same time, the head of state also stressed the need for helicopters to provide medical services in villages, especially in mountainous areas.
As you know,Ukraine and France sign contract to purchase 55 Airbus Helicopters for the State Emergency Service’s needs. The press offices of Ukrainian Government and Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs claim this.
The agreement was signed between Hennadii Balloi, the Head of Khoriv-Avia, the Ukrainian Aviation enterprise and Bruno Even, the Chief Executive Officer of Airbus Helicopter in the Cabinet of Ministers today.
Volodymyr Groysman, the Head of Ukrainian Government, Arsen Avakov, the Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and French Ambassador Isabelle Dumont were present at the at the time of signature of the contract.
‘We are reforming the whole sector of the law enforcement system and homeland security. Security of citizens, timely response to challenges require a high level of technical support and equip of our structures. This contract we signing gives us 55 helicopters which will be used for maintaining the security of Ukrainian citizens. Today, we are completing a tremendous work which was undertaken by Arsen Avakov, the whole team of the Ministry of Internal Affairs system and French partners. And we are starting an important project for Ukraine,’ Groysman claimed this at the meeting.
For its part, Bruno Even, the CEO of Airbus Helicopters company noted that the helicopters meet the highest standards of technology.
‘They will contribute to successful commission all missions that you intend to use them in terms of civil security. The contract and the partnership are not only about delivering the helicopters. They have more global direction. It is about a gradual development of your competence and operational capabilities in technical maintenance realm,’ he noted.
According to the agreement, H225 x21, H145 x10, and H125 x24 will be delivered from France to Ukraine. The contract costs 650 million USD.
