President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held a meeting with the mission of the National Democratic Institute of the USA and the European Parliament and urged them to increase sanctions against Russia in connection with its interference in the electoral process in Ukraine. The press office of the Presidential Administration reported.
It is claimed that the Head of the State discussed the progress towards reforms in the country and the pre-electoral situation in the state and the latest developments on occupied by Russia territories of Ukraine with the representatives of European Parliament and the U.S. National Democratic Institute. He has also given examples of Russia’s interference in the electoral process in Ukraine and called the western allies to increase sanctions against the country aggressor.
‘During the meeting, they talked about presidential and parliamentarian elections in Ukraine in 2019, which are not an obstacle for either the Minsk or the Normandy processes,’ reads the message.
Earlier, Vladimir Putin claimed that the Russian Federation will cooperate with any new authorities of Ukraine and called the Normandy meetings pointless.
