Ukraine’s President told Stoltenberg about conflict escalation in Donbas

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko had a telephone conversation with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. The press service of the President’s Administration reports this.

"The Head of State informed Stoltenberg about the escalation of the situation in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, as well as increased number of Russian provocations in the occupied Crimea and Donbas", reads the statement.

Petro Poroshenko urged to keep the issue of Russia's aggression against Ukraine on the agenda of the North Atlantic Alliance.

Jens Stoltenberg stressed the importance of full implementation of the Minsk agreements.

The sides discussed the implementation of "a comprehensive package of assistance of NATO for Ukraine", adopted at the NATO Summit in Warsaw. The President expressed the hope this package will help to modernize the Ukrainian army to NATO standards.

In addition, Stoltenberg congratulated Poroshenko on the Independence Day.
