President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has urged Israel to promote the release of 24 Ukrainian sailors captured by Russia near Kerch Strait in November 2018 as the presidential press service reported.
“The President of Ukraine urged Israel to facilitate the release of Ukrainian sailors illegally captured by Russia during a treacherous act of aggression in the Kerch Strait. The Head of State invited President of Israel Reuven Rivlin to pay a visit to Ukraine in 2019,” the message said.
Moreover, the parties discuss a wide range of issues of the bilateral agenda and further development of the traditional friendly relations between Ukraine and Israel.
“Particular attention was paid to the topical issues of the international agenda, including the issues of conflict resolution in the Middle East and the crisis in Syria,” the message noted.
The sides noted the importance of the strengthening of the political contacts between two states at the highest level and stood for maintaining of the high dynamics of the bilateral visits in the future. Besides, the presidents highly estimated the agreement on the Free Trade Area, which will be signed on January 21.
As we reported the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine authorized First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development and Trade Stepan Kubiv for the signing of the agreement on the Free Trade Area (FTA) with Israel.
Ukraine and Israel completed the technical initializing of the deal earlier this year; the talks were completed in March. Later, in August, the sides agreed to sign it.
