The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that he took decisive steps to enhance the Ukrainian military presence in Donbas, as he told in today’s meeting with a representative of the initiative group “The First of December”, according to the President’s Facebook.
“Unfortunately, the threat of escalation is growing. At the same time, I am absolutely sure of the power of the Ukrainian Army that they gained in the last three years. I as the President and the commander-in-chief took decisive steps to enhance our presence in the East. We are ready to face any scenario that the aggressor might be considering,” he said.
As we reported earlier, all 74 Russian military officers, who were a part of the JCCC, have left the territory of Ukraine. Russia decided to withdraw its representatives from the Joint Center for Control and Coordination in Donbas (JCCC) on December 19th.
Oleksandr Turchynov, the Secretary of the Security and Defence Council of Ukraine, said that Russia might be withdrawing their officers in order to intensify not just the military provocations, but the military action.
