Poroshenko has congratulated Ukrainian diplomat on the successful chairmanship of Ukraine in the UN Security Council. The President noted that at the initiative of Ukraine they managed to more actively involve the UN Security Council to address peace and security challenges on the European continent. He said this on his page on Facebook.

"Ukraine together with its partners strongly condemned the Russian aggression in the Donbas and Crimea occupation and noted the importance of maintaining the sanctions against Russia to restore the territorial integrity of Ukraine", reads the report.

Poroshenko said that during this month the UN Security Council adopted the resolution on the protection of critical infrastructure from terrorist attacks, held debates about the conflicts in Europe, which attracted worldwide attention to Russian aggression in Donbas, especially in the context of an escalation in Avdiivka.

"From now on, the word ‘Avdiivka’ entered the international lexicon as a symbol of heroism of Ukrainian troops, nonexhaustive spirit of the Ukrainians and the cynicism of the Russian aggression", said the President.
